No pets shouldn't be given as gifts unless the person is prepared for it. Having a pet is a big responsibility. It hax costs attached to it. They must be able to care for it. Beside that a kitten is not a good pet for a two year old. They are sometimes much to rough with animals as they don't see them much differently than toys at that age.

I try to steer clear of giving pets as gifts. I think it's generally a bad idea, especially when you're thinking about giving those gifts to young children. I mean, it's a lifelong responsibility, not something that can be tossed aside you know? Kids sometimes get tired of them. The parents are then left taking care of them. In general, unless you know someone really really well. I'd steer clear of buying a pet for them.

yes it is fine to give pet as an gift to your loved ones but i think ur niece is too small to have a pet so you shud wait for some time to gift her a pet althoug pets can be a fine gift. deep

I don't think we should give pets UNLESS they were explicitly asked for. Pets are animals are living things. They are not just mere inanimate gifts that do not require care or maintenance. Is your recipient able to afford the resources of looking after your "gift"? Do have a thought. :P

You should only give it to her if her parents don't mind. Especially since she is only two years old and cannot take care of one herself. I have never gave a pet as a gift, but I was going to get a puppyfor my niece, however, my brother said she wasn't old enough, so I had to wait. Hmm... I wonder if she's old enough now. LoL

First of all it would not be smart to give a 2 year old a cat without the permission of the parents, because although cats are known to be cuddly and affectionate I would not allow a cat anywhere near a little kid. I've known of cats to lay accross childrens faces and smothers them. Probaly not at 2 years old but I wouldn't take the chance. I just don't think pets make good gifts. I'm a small breed animal lover and I think it's important to pick out your own animal. I think everyone should make their own choice in picking a pet. I also know from past experience always get a new pet and train them yourself.
