Iam from Kerala the southern state of India. Mobile phone is very common here eventhough people have no use of this. It becomes a craze among teen agers. I know few students they are engaged in distributing news papers early in the morning with out the consent of their parents. Their intention is to make money for recharging mobile phones. I don't know why they are not thinking sensibly. It is mere waste of money and quite unnecessary too.

I guess being crazy with cell phones among the youth doesn't only happen in India. In the Philippines, it is just so rampant. It's not only the teenagers who are addicted to mobile phones but even those who are still at age 9-12 (average). My cousin who is still 11 years old already has a cellphone and became so addicted to it already. Even her classmates also have cellphones.

I find good that these kids are finding ways to cover for their additional expenses and therefore, they are not bothering their parents to finance their unnecessary expenses. Yes, this is the perennial problem involving teenagers. They want always to belong, to be in vogue, never to be left behind with whatever is new. Perhaps, this is just part of growing up. Anyway if they are not causing us any trouble it will be okay. The parents though may be made aware of this so that these kids will not be wasting too much money recharging their phones when there is no need for it. Their money can be used for more important things.
