No, you're wrong. It's the golden period now. You can go through the ebay.com stamps category, there you may see with lots of surprise. Philatelic(stamp Collection hobby) vendors make huge amounts with their collection of earlier stamps.

Hello ackars....
I have been collecting stamps and postal history a little over 48 years and I see real problems for collectors because of the very limited use of stamps on modern mail. Less are being used, less are being saved, material from this time period in the future will be very difficult to find in good condition.
I have started several discussions concerning stamps and about how collectors find material to add to their collections. Have you been collecting long ? How do you find items for your collection ? Do you have collector friends to trade duplicate items ? Do you have any books to help you learn ? Do you collect just stamps of India or do you collect stamps from all countries ? If you don't, would you like to ? I am offering free stamps to any collector in mylot, see my discussion for details. If you are interested in learning more about hobby let me know.
Tom
