Saint Tyagaraja lived in the late 18th century A.D. in Tiruvaiyaru in the state of Tamilnadu in India.He composed a great number of songs in Telugu and Sanskrit in different Ragas. His contribution to the field of carnatic music is immense.

Yes his contribution is immense, and most of his songs are sung with awe even by the younger generation. And it is really overwhelming to see lots participating in the Thyagaraja Aradhana held at Thiruvaiyaru every year to sing the Pancharathna Kritis.
