getting ripped off by mechanics...

how come it seems that every time i need some major mechanical work done to a vehicle i seem to encounter a "dirty" mechanic ? am i the only one who has these problems with mechanics ? tell me your stories of awful mechanics trying to get one over on you..

I am a female and last year we had to take our car in for work and my husband left in another vehicle and I stayed with the car they ordered the wrong part and we had to pay for it anyways plus the wrong belt and they even acted like I was not even there
