Why do some kids have outies?

It has nothing to do with how the umbilical cord was cut or clamped. Most outies are nothing more than extra scar tissue. The rest are caused by an umbilical hernia, when the stomach muscles don't fuse together properly after the cord stump falls off, causing abdominal tissues to poke through. An outie is just one more thing that makes them stick out in a crowd. Isn't this interesting? All my children have outies!!

My youngest son has an outie.. He had an umbilcal hernia repaired and he's always had the outie since.
We always use his outie in fun, he will say that he's full after eating dinner, and he will say that his "pop up timer" is out.. Funny!!

Nice interesting post. I am giving you another + rating for it. I had an outie as a child, and now it is an innie. Blessings. M&M

As far as I know everyone in my family has inies LOL My husband started out with an outie but it was a hernia and he had it operated on when he was only a handful of months old. Now he has an innie which looks weird (it is perfectly round and the inside is 100% smooth).

Wow, that is strange that ALL your kids have them. Don't take that wrong, I didn't mean strange in a bad way. Just different. My brother had an outie. It was actually some type of hernia and the Dr. decided to do an operation on his. Everything was fine. I don't know why exactly they did the operation. I was pretty young myself, but apparently it was a cancern because of the type of hernia that he had.
