I wonder who else here on mylot often wake up after a sound sleep with a bad stiff neck on? I sometimes do and I hate it...it's really painful that if I need to look at my back I had to turn my whole body with me... Have you ever experienced this? What do you do to ease the pain with your stiff neck?

I have often woken up in the mornings with a crick in my neck. I rubbed some medicinal cream (available from your pharmacist) on it but it was still slow to go away. It usually took from 3 - 4 days. You can read more about neck pain here:

I had a bad one this morning. I slept on it funny and it made me so uncomfortable that I had to wake up around 7am instead of sleeping in over my break. It wasn't just my neck it was my whole back and shoulders that felt weird too. I usually just stretch and take some anti-inflammatories to help with any pain or swelling.

I have a stiff neck quite often..I do a exercise that really helps mine...i sit in a chair and turn my head to the right as far as I can then to the left as far as i can ,do this slowley....then put you head down as far as you can to your chest and then up and back. Then turn your head to the right and try to touch your shoulder and then to the left and try to touch your left shoulder..Then do a head roll, put your head down and go all around with your head in a circle..do this every day about 10 times each and your neck will lose that stiffness.I had a whip lash once from a wreak and this is the exercises my doctor recommended and it really helps...

Hehe.. Poor you. I also experience it sometimes when I have to sleep using some other pillow. It happens when I have to stay up overnight at some friend’s house doing project stuff. I don’t sleep with so much pillows or thick pillows. When I have it, I have to move almost my entire body if I am to look back, it sucks.

I have a stiff neck all day long. It usually feels BETTER after I sleep. I go see a professional masseuse or a chiropractor if it's too bad. My suggestion to you would be to talk to a chiropractor about your PILLOW. If sleep is making your neck stiff, I might think your pillow is too big or too small and causing you to sleep in a bad position.
