A friend of mine let me in on this wonderful tip. When it comes to taking the used wax out of the candleholder, you need to backtrack. Before the candle is placed in the candleholder, put just enough water in the holder to cover the bottom. Place the candle inside and light. When the wax has melted down and cooled, the remaining wax is easily removed. Hope this helps all the candle enthusiasts out there!!

Um.. how are we supposed to make the candle stand if the bottom is flooded with water? I always just scrape the wax for with something sharp... though I must say the result isn't too impressive! :P

Well you only put a minimum amount in the bottom of the candle stand not flood it with water.

I am a die-hard candle holic and have never heard of this before - you can be sure I will be in the future because not only is it a mess cleaning the extra wax out but I save all of mine. When I have enough I melt it all down and make my own candles.

Thanks for the great tip. I have never heard this one before. I have heard about putting sand in the bottom and it makes for easy clean up also.

Thanks Kathy. This will save my fingernails. I usually end up breaking my nails trying to get the wax out. Your way will be less messy!
