What is your favorite summer treat?

I love Popsicles. To me, they really symbolize summertime. But I´m also a huge fan of strawberry shortcake, with fluffy shortbread, juicy red strawberries (my mom used to make it with wild berries, SO GOOD!), and mounds of freshly whipped cream. Yum!

Agua frescas, cold watermelon, pineapple, and peaches. Loads of peaches. Another thing I love in the summer is not technically a 'treat', but my mom used to make it every summer, so I do now as well. You add chopped fresh tomato, bell pepper and green onions to cottage cheese and add a bit of salt and pepper. I could eat that all day long! Also, homemade sweet pickles... cut up cucumbers and onions and make a brine from vinegar, sugar, salt and pepper. I pickle beets as well. Served cold, they remind me of hot summer days...

I don´t think treats have to be sweet, do they? That salad sounds delicious!

I like popsicles too. My favorite is cherry. I also like having ice cream bars and ice cream sandwiches but we get them sometimes during the winter months. Its not really a treat but I also look forward to picnics so I can have potato salad, corn on the cob and salt potatoes. I know you can have them anytime but its even nicer in the summer when you can go outside and cook on the grill and have a picnic with your family.

That still counts because technically it is a summer treat no matter when you eat it! I would eat strawberry shortcake all year round if I could!

Rice, milk, sugar and cornflower. Wait for it to get really cold and solidify in the refrigerator. The perfect summer meal

I've got a few summer treats that I love to have to keep me cool during those long summer days. I like everything from just a simple bowl of ice cream al the way to a freezie or popsicle. I also like to make my smooties from time to time and those have just the same effect. They can help to cool you down and give you a little ectra get up and go when you're feeling unenergetic and down. I would definitey recommend something like one of the above if you ever need something tasty and good for you that was rather inex[ensive. I know on a hot day here I wull do something like buying a couple slurpees or one of my fasvorite ice cream treats from Seven Eleven. It was actually pretty nicr we had sime vasriety in terms of what we coud have to cool us off. I remmebver how we came to find those ice cream cookie sandeues. i had sent my other half out to see if he could find something diffewrent for us to have rahter than our traditional ice cream in a bowl. I mean, we like that but we wantedsomething completely different just to see what would give us an option for something new and exciting. He came home with these two Breyer's cookie sandwches and I thought they were a waste of money at frst. Once I tried them I was instantly hooked on them and I wanted another one. You try having it one day and not watning it again the next. I actually think we went bakc again the next evening for another one each. They were just the right balamnce of cookie and ice cream. We realty. I also like just s normal ice cream sandwishes when these other ones are not avaikaible. I think they taste just as good as the cookie ines and I don't taste much of a fifference except for the texture and a little less chocolate flavour in the ordinary chocolate ice cream sandwiches. They are also bewtter than the cookie ones because they are consideraby less expesive. Freezies are good too because I've had thrm ever sincve I was a kid and I know they taste good. Plus, there is such a variety with those frozen treats you can have a new flavour every time. I also like having them because they take me back to my childhood and I always feel good going back to Saskatchewan even if it's in my mind for a few moments while I suck on a freezie. Me and my other half really do like having all of these treats while we sit outside on the deck and watch the sunset. In conclusion I find it great to have such a variety to choose from in terms of summertime fozen treats. I like thar each sri Freezies Ice Cream Sandwiches Klondike Ice Cream Cookie Sandwiches

I want to apologize that this was posted this way. I was fully intent on doing a spell check and for some reason it posted before I was able to do that or even before I was able to finish it. I feel so embarrassed when I saw what had happened.

I am an ice cream sandwich addict as well! But here we don´t have good ones. The ice cream is very weird. Back in Canada, I used to keep a box of sandwiches in the freezer for when the urge struck!

I am very fond of fresh fruit salads, especially the ones my father makes with mangos and guava and other tropical fruits. These fruits are not available readily to me so I go for pineapple, banana, and strawberries or a melon salad with watermelon, cantaloupe, honey dew and a few grapes thrown in for interest. I find a fruit salad is always so refreshing.

This is the completed post. I do apologize again for posting it before it was complete. Silly me! I've got a few summer treats that I love to have to keep me cool during those long summer days. I like everything from just a simple bowl of ice cream all the way to a freezie or popsicle. I also like to make my smoothies from time to time just for something different. They can help to keep you cool on a hot day outside plus they contain nutrients and vitamins that your body always requires. I would definitely recommend something like one of the above if you ever need something tasty and good for you that was rather inexpensive. I know on a hot day here I will do something like buying a couple slurpees or one of my favorite ice cream treats from Seven Eleven. It was actually pretty nice we had some variety in terms of what we could have to cool us off. I remember how we came to find those ice cream cookie sandwiches. i had sent my other half out to see if he could find something different for us to have rather than our traditional ice cream in a bowl. I mean, we like that but we wanted something completely different just to give ourselves an option in terms of what to have during the summer heat. He came home with these two Breyer's cookie sandwiches and I thought they were a waste of money at first. They looked almost like he overpaid for a couple of ice cream sandwiches that weren't that special. Once I tried them I was instantly hooked on them and I wanted another one. You try having it one day and not wanting it again the next, they were that good. I actually think we went back again the next evening for another one each. They were just the right balance of cookie and ice cream. We really fell in love with the way they tasted and I swear that's the reason why we kept going back for more. I also like just normal ice cream sandwiches when these other ones are not available. I think they taste just as good as the cookie ines and I don't taste much of a difference except for the texture and a little less chocolate flavor in the ordinary chocolate biscuit part of the sandwich. They are also better than the cookie ones because they are considerably less expensive. Freezies are good too because I've had them ever since I was a kid and I know they taste good. Plus, there is such a variety with those frozen treats you can have a new flavor every time. I also like having them because they take me back to my childhood and I always feel good going back to Saskatchewan even if it's in my mind for a few moments while I suck on a freezie. Me and my other half really do like having all of these treats while we sit outside on the deck and watch the sunset. In conclusion I find it great to have such a variety to choose from in terms of summertime frozen treats. I like each and every one that we decided to include here because it brings back a childhood memory or we just like the overall taste of the item. We were even surprised by the taste of one that we weren't even sure was going to be good in the first place. All of these treats not only satisfy the kid inside us all, they help us to keep cool during those hot summer days when nothing else will work. Thank you for allowing me to share! xx
