What are tags for?

I keep on writing tags after posting my reply on discussions. As i understand it, they are used to search for similar topics. But how will i do the searching when i find no search box here in mylot that will require you to type the tag and then related topics will be shown.

Tags are always your preferences for searching.search boxis there on right top...

if you look at the top of the page you can see a search box...you can use it to search either in the net or in mylot...and adding a word they can search between tags and find a proper discussion..this is the reason why it is better add many tags to our discussions so to help people interested finding them!!!

They might help bring up the similar discussions at the bottom of the page. That's all I can think of. I find it to be a waste of time (especially since I don't know the reason for them) so I don't use them.
