Hi! The reason I'm writing this is because the other day I had seen a message where someone was asking if Ritalin was overused in schools. I found out about this one school in New York that is kind of an alternative school, and they ask that the children who go there be off of psychiatric medications... If they are already taking Ritalin, they have to be weaned off. It is really a remarkable school! I wish I had gone there when I was a kid, and I would love to work at a school like that some day! If you would like to read about it, go here: http://www.blogcharm.com/4kids/63694

I would love to read about it, but your article seems to be missing, so the link didn't take me there.
Could you please share the information on this school if you still have it?
I'm of the school that believes that we've chased to many of our problems with pills instead of really taking the time to study them and respond accordingly.

I would imagine that school has staff trained in crisis intervention, and they only talk about their successes, all other probably return to the public school system.
Beware of places claiming all these miracles with behavior issues. It they claim sweeping success they are probably more therapeutic than a public school where regular students attend. Having worked in special education with medicated students, I would be loathe to work in a room of emotionally disturbed, violent students without their being medicated.
