Why are people ignorant?

It is beyond me why people are ignorant to the things they dont know about and refuse to learn about. Why do people continue to degrade themselves and be below their own worth because they refuse to gain knowledge?

Some people are just stupid, but it's all good, I need someone to erve my food at McDs or wash my car at the gas station :-D
