Election, Politics

Is there really an honest and clean election? Election time is coming in May in our country and candidates are busy doing all what they can to win votes. From the start of the campaign period, the candidates would go from place to place to woe people, shaking hands, joking, laughing, eating with them and doing many other tricks to make them handsome/ beautiful or appealing to the eyes of the masses. Some would present their platform and agendas in governance, making promises to the people that they will do these and that, once they are elected; but the truth is, once they are seated into power, they forgot about their promises and most are really into making their pockets full. Others are into vote-buying, paying willing-persons for their votes. Still other candidates are into be-smirching campaign, throwing black propaganda at other candidates to dishonor their opponents. All of these tactics and tricks are unclean and show dishonesty. Then election time and counting of votes come. Losing candidates say that they were cheated and will do actions to discredit the votes or unseat the winner. Therefore, generally I would say that there is no really clean and honest election, not only in our country but in other countries as well. What about you, can you say that you have an honest and clean election in your place or country? Really???

I'm from Canada, and the elections although not completely innocent, I'd have to say are fairly clean. There are things I don't like about them, primarily the fake personalities. They have to act a certain way to please the most people possible. I don't like that. If I was to run for Prime Minister, I would act and more importantly speak the way I do normally. I think I could actually gain an advantage this way by not trying to fool Canadians. However, I think politics should be about public service, so I'd rather stick to my beliefs, make sure they are clear and lose an election, than win under lies. Then again, I am in Canada, and the way the political system is designed here, the loser still has a fair amount of power.

Thank you for your response and comments. It is good to know that there is clean election in Canada. My dad and I would probably travel there in your country next month, if things will turn out positively. Again thanks a lot and God bless...
