need help on upgrading performance.. :(

Hi guys i was thinking now is the time for my pc to get an upgrade.I have a INTEL pentium D/3ghertz.Nvidia Geforce 7600 with 256 memory and finally a 1gig RAM. a) For the RAM part ill just add on another 512mb..sorted b) whats the best dual core intel processer i should get? if its the dual core extreme what comes before it? (in the dual series) c) finally for the graphics card,i was drooling over that 8800 but its too expensive for now...what came just before Geforce 8800? 7900? or like 8700 or something. is it possible to add on ..say have two graphics cards and two processers on one pc? HELP pweez :(
