really get screwed! The United States is 230 years old and I just discovered that residents of the District of Columbia don't have the right to vote! I know they are not in any state, that was the plan. But they still should be able to vote. They pay taxes, go to war, and do all the things that other Americans do except for voting. Please just take a minute to go to this petition website and let our Congresspeople know of the terrible injustice taking place. The website is: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/923863242. Thanks a million!

This is not a new problem for it has been petitioned before. In fact it was addressed as early as last year. I agree that the people there should be allowed to vote in all things not just in Presidential ellections. The problem comes in they are not a state. They do not have the same rights afforded to others that are states nor do they get what is afforded to federal territories. IN fact they often pay more in federal taxes then any other area. This appears to be taxation without representation which is one of the things that sparked the Revelutionary War and caused us to leave England and yet they continue to deny it to those who live in the area for the Federal Government. The problem comes in they need to amend the Constitution but to do this it has to mass by a majority which so far this has not happened. They have tried on several occasions and although many admit this is a problem they don't seem to want to rectify it either. Hopefully though with this next petition and attempt something will be corrected.
