What are we to do?

OK My father-in-law is a truck driver and isn't home very much. We take care of the house and live there with/for him. It has been snowing, raining, sleeting, and then it melts and refreezes and melts again. Well our front yard is very soft and muddy of course. My husband has to drive up in the yard to drop me off because I can't walk long distances. Well, sometimes he got stuck in the mud and kind of tore up the yard. It wasn't his fault! His father, my father-in-law, came home last night and totally blew up at my husband. After a while, after letting him cool down, I asked him if he was mad at me too. He yelled at me that he was mad at all of us and that it was total disrespect for him to tear up the yard like that 'cause he is not home that often and likes to come home to a clean house/yard. I said that we would move out then as I walked away. Should we? I am going to pack a few clothes to stay with my mom for a couple of days, and my husband is coming with me because he has a couple of days off. What should we do? Should we look for somewhere else to live or should we continue living here?
