Do comments count towards posts?

I'm fairly new to mylot, having only been here for just over 2 weeks. Just yesterday I noticed that when I comment on a response I don't get an increase to my post count. I didn't notice that when I started commenting on responses. Has it always been this way or is this a new function of mylot? What incentive is there to comment on responses if the post will not count? I'm confused, please help clarify this for me.

No, you get remuneration for the actual response to your discussion, but these people have added to your earnings so responding to them with an acknowledgement of their comment is courteous. You can also increase your earnings by marking responses with a + if you think they warrant it. Only your responses to others' discussions show on your points count... the others go straight to your earnings. Brightest Blessings and I hope you enjoy your time here. This is a wonderful forum and there is a great community here.

Thank you for that clarification. If I understand correctly than a comment will get me some earnings (I understand it has to add to the discussion to earn well) but doesn't count on my posts. That's reasonable. I completely agree that it is courteous to comment to the replies on your started discussions and that is what I do. I just was replying to a number of responses on the same discussion and noticed no change in my post count so that is what brought on the question. I am enjoying mylotting!

Comments only count towards your rating if your comments are in someone else's topic. You do not get points for making comments on your own topics, just other people's topics. You get a point now for creating the topic but any comments within your post will not give you extra rating points. That does not mean you should not comment on other peoples replies though as this helps build a friendship with other members who can help you along the way.

I think there is some confusion here!! Here is a question and the answer given by mylot that is from the horses mouth if you will. I also gave a link to the thread. http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/12919.aspx *QUOTE* QnAQueen (487) 8 months ago Hello - The site looks great! It's changed so much - albeit gradually over the past few months, ut it's all good! I had a few questions to ask you, though: 1. How much are the rates for responses? 2. Do the rates vary depending on volume of participation? 3. Do you pay for posting questions as well? 4. In the My Earnings Page, is the amount reflected the total payouts given throughout the whole course of participation, does it only feature the unpaid amount? How does that work? This is really a great development. Good luck to you! Best regards, QnAQueen myLot (45) 8 months ago Great questions QnAQueen. In response to each... 1) In order to prevent fraud and prevent people from "gaming the system" we will not be disclosing the unique aspects of our earnings algorithm. In general, quality responses and comments will be rewarded more than non-quality responses and comments. 2) The more quality information you post, the more you will make. 3) Yes, this includes both discussion starters as well as responses and comments to discussions. 4) The earnings shown in the system represent accrued earnings since myLot was launched in May. Since this program is new, we obviously have not made any payouts, and the carryover is from the months of May, June and July. The total amount of earning as of August 31 will be paid on or around September 15. Then going forward, payouts will be monthly with any earnings under $10 being carried forward until the next month. I hope this helps. And thanks for the kind words! Your contributions to this community are certainly noticed and appreciated. END *QUOTE* I hope this answers your questions. I could give you my opinion, but since we all have differing opinions about what earns what, I think this is better. =o}
