In my opinion Gilli is better than Dhoni both as a keeper and as a batsman... Gilli is keeping wickets for Aus team for a long period now without any flaw, he is good in keeping pacers as well as bowlers like Warne... I believe that keeping for Warne is the most difficult task for a keeper... And batting wise Gilli is far more successful.... Dhoni is good but not better than Gilli... Dhoni is yet to prove his batting ability in Aus, Kiwi & English fast pitches..... So for me Gilli is a little ahead of Dhoni

I feel it is unfair to compare dhoni with gilchrist as dhoni has justed started out hisn international career while gilchrist has ben playing for quite some time now. I feel the gilchirst is most successful wicket keeper batsman esp. in test cricket and dhoni has to be lot more consistent in test matches & prove himself on seaming, bouncy tracks in australia & south africa if he has to become the best. Then dhoni has to become better with glovework as gilchrist is excellent with gloves. But as dhoni is already no.2 in ICC ODI ranking and has been number one last season, he is already an accomplished batsman in one dayers & holds world record for highest score by wicketkeeper batsman of 183 not out. But to be best, you have to perform like that far too regularly, which i am sure dhoni is starting to do and will become better with time.

i think gilchrist n dhoni are of the same level in batting capabilities...but in keeping gilly has an upper hand... in batting they r mostly equal n have won many matches for their teams...but gilly is experienced n has already proved himself with 8500 runs while dhoni is new to the arena n he has already been the world no 1 batsman...n slowly catchin up with gilly.... but i think gilly cant play the waiting game...n dhoni can play the waiting game in addition to his big shots...thats the plus dhoni has...
