Anyone else find coffee stops you feeling hungry?

I usually drink tea but if I am out somewhere and feeling a bit peckish I will have a cup of coffee because it takes away the hungry feelings. Does anyone else think this?

They've recently found that coffee has fiber in it, and fiber can help keep you from being hungry, so maybe that's it. I don't find it works too well for me, though. The caffeine seems to speed up my metabolism and make me get hungry faster. The only way coffee makes me less hungry is if it's in a latte, and then it's really the milk that's making me less hungry.

Coffee also has antioxidants that can slow the aging process and prevent certain types of cancer.

Sometimes this is true for me....but it usually very temporary. I often drink coffee on a Friday night after work...as a treat. By the time I get home I am hungry. It does help to stave off the hunger for a short time for me.

Yes, and I use it as a treat. I'm drinking some now....I'll do that on weekend evenings...otherwise just mornings typically for me.

I find that most beverages do that for me. when I am trying to loose weight I make sure I drink a few glasses of water a day to keep me feeling full and not wander towards the kitchen.

Yes, I find the same! Plus lets see, it makes the heart beat faster. The heart is a muscle, so I must be losing weight right...if it is beating faster?! It wakes me up so that I don't feel like running for a nap..that is good...I stay up rather than nap...good for weight loss. So, I drink 5-6 cups of coffee per day, why the heck do I not have a body like one of those supermodels?

Good theories, I like your thinking. If only it was that easy, life just isnt fair sometimes.

It would explain why somedays I don't eat but once. I drink way to much coffee. Might also explains the jitters and my mad replying on here. LOL Great topic. You got a + for it.

Thank you. I usually eat more at work than I do on a day when I am at home. Perhaps I should drink more coffee

Tea doesnt seem to have the same affect on me as coffee, neither does water. I think I must be too used to tea as that is my main drink

Yes, it does for me too. I can be feeling so hungry, especially if out shopping and I am getting tired. A cup of nice flavored coffee will usually satisfy my hunger and leave me feeling ready to go for more.

I think it definately takes away my hunger because the mornings that I don't drink it I feel like eating where as with the morning that I do (which is 99% of them) I'm not hungry at all.
