biting is only a part of the cat game if the cat is taught no different if you teach the cat ways to responde then they will act out what you have taught them.I have trained many cats and dogs to obey on what they call snap comands,it is a pretty good method for them they learn the sound and then remember it.

cats bite when they are overstimulated by petting. since you have a baby, i would suggest that you keep them apart for the meantime. there are signals when a cat will bite or be a bit rougher. My cat Purr, purrs like a motor and he circles around my legs then he begins to bite. i'm new to taking care of cats and before i did get clawed badly by Purr when he got overstimulated. Now, when i hear that low, motor like purr and he begins to rub close to my legs, i say NO loudly and hold him away. This usually stops him from biting me. He likes to nip my toes lolz

You must stop it now, or it will remain a habit. Just get a bottle of water and the minute it bites, you spray it in the face and say no loudly. Keep doing it. It works for all bad habits that start.

i did hear that from a friend of mine and i will try it. it seems like my cat is hard headed though since every time i tell him no he stops then goes right back to doing what he was doing.

You dont mind if they swat at each other but biting is a bit extreme? If your cat has ingested any of these plants, take him to your veterinarian immediately.

right, i dont mind if they swat at each other because the cat is declawed. the bite is different since the cat still has teeth. thanks for your comment though.

My folks love cats and dogs..as well as i remember we have had around 8 cats at one time..there was this particular cat we had that would not stop bitting...so we talked about the same to our family friends and the vet too they all said..when the cat bites you or grabs you by her/his jaws do not react(cause this confuses them)just slowly with your finger hit the cat on the nose(very sensitive and the cat will let go of this habit eventually!!!

The way I break my cats of biting is by grabbing their lower jaw easily when they try to bite and apply a small amount of pressure showing the cat that I do not want him/her to bite, they usually responde to this well I actually had to bite one of my cats to teach it.Good luck and just love the kitty and let him/her know when they do something you don't want them to.
