Testing For Diabetes

When I was in school for Medical Assistant, one of the strangest facts that I learned was that back in the olden days the doctor would taste the patients urine to test for diabetes. I thought that it was so gross that he had to be joking, but since then, I have asked a few other medical professionals and they have confirmed that it is indeed true. I know that the diabetic body dumps sugar in the urine to rid itself of excess, but tasting someones urine to diagnose them is going a bit far to me. There are a lot of nasty things doctors have to do, but I draw the line at someones waste.

Well, you're right, but I guess doctors will do whatever they feel like they have to do to save their patients' lives.
