The movie "IT"

March 10, 2007 9:02pm CST
I saw this as a kid and recently I bought it on dvd. I'm a huge horror fan and I love Steven kings work, I haven't read a lot of it although most of the movies I have seen. This is the only movie as a kid really got to me, There hasn't been one since as I find most boring and I was around 6 at the time. I love the movie though! plus tim curry as the wacky serial killing clown/spider (pennywise) So did you like this film + Is it one of your favourite steven king stories? ~Joey Your thoughts are welcomed. =)

oh my goodness! that was the one with the clown! oh oh oh oh. I haven't liked or trusted a clown since. My memory of it is rather vague other than the clown's look and I am thinking there was something to do with a sewer drain/runoff dealy. Shudder, I did not like that movie, nope, not one bit. I think I shall have a nightmare tonight, now!

~Joey

For those who don't remember the flick.
I'm saddened to hear that. Although the clown is very evil looking, as A kid I loved clowns although I did dream about this one. (i do like icp who are nearly as bad) Sleep well! try to forget about him =) ~Joey P.s don't look at the attached picture.

i think the first part(when they first encountered the clown) is better. the second part is a disappointment especially when they encountered the spider thing. i think a better kid/children movie is the goonies by steven spielberg. it's about a group of kid who found a treasure map.

Sadly the final part with the spider was kinda cheesy but I don't think they could've pulled any better ending for it (just read the book). If you take the movie as a whole, it's a quite horrofing experience (especially for a 10 years old :D). The storyline takes the action in diferent phases which introduces you to the characters, psychologically and physically, the reckless town and it's terrible secret. I really liked how the children become best friends and remain united until the end, despite their differences.

This is probably the only Stephen King movie / book I haven't seen or read. I saw about 5 minutes of the movie, but that was about half way through, and it didn't do anything for me. Might have to go and hire it...

This is one you do have to watch from the beginning. You come into it half way you do lose a lot. If you get the chance rent it and watch it. It's one my favorites even if it scares me :)

OK, I will have to check it out... its scored fairly well on IMDB. I just noticed that it is a 3 hour movie, so watching only a few minutes in the middle probably isn't enough. Thanks!

I read the book and later saw the movie. The book is so much better than the movie. If you get a chance read the book, its a big one and so much fun to read.

I loved the book and have read to many times to count, but have always been disappointed in the movie. Im not much of a fan of books being make into movies though, as inevitably parts must be left out and you always have your own ideas of what the characters look like in your mind and seeing them on screen can be totally different. I must however say that Steven Kings the stand is one movie i did fall in love with

I agree about the whole books made into movie thing being very dissapointing! The best way to do it is to watch the movie first and then read the book, that way you get bonus stuff when you read the book. Unfortunately, the book is normally the first to arrive and I, for one, can't wait for the movie and then read the book.

Greetings fellow Horror fan! I can't say IT did anything to interest, excite or enthrall me, in actual fact I saw it over two episodes and it bored me rigid. I hate clowns anyhow and this film was certainly not his bed. My favourite Stephen King film was actually a novella, Apt Pupil with Ian McKellen and Brad Renfro, excellent film, gripping, great storyline, great acting and one of Stephen King's finest stories, it is not horror admittedly but it's about a horrific subject. If you haven't seen it I would highly recommend it. Christine is another one of Stephen King's classics about the demon car and revenge, another brilliant film, I have seen this film about the Plymouth Fury about four times, well worth watching! Stephen King is fantastic and one of the best ever writers. So good choice my friend! Respect.

I just have to say that I agree totally with you about Apt Pupil, excellent film and story, it's one of the ones I usually confuse people with when I try to describe it because I will say its a good/great story but it's not very nice, a perfect example of this is 'Sickened' by Julie Gregory.

OMG... I love IT! I also just recently purchased it on DVD. I had seen it again for the first time in years on cable one night and my kids watched it with me. Of course I was so freaked out. I have a horrible fear of clowns anyways so this movie only messes with my mind more! LOL I do love it and to be honest I think it is possibly my favorite film from his writings. Carrie was okay, just not truly scary enough for me. There was another one about this creepy thing that came to an island, I can't recall the name, but it was like a 3 day movie event on tv. I want to say it was The Storm but I'm not sure. Anyways, that's another one of my faves from him on film too.

Stephen King's IT was one of my favorites. It was fun watching the movie to see who played each character. I read somewhere that S. King played the clown in the library. Tim Curry pulled it off as the clown but his laugh is something you will never forget. I love other Stephen King books and I love watching them go to movies, some doesn't do to well as a movie. Today I finally watched the The Shining all the way through. I read that book almost 12-13 years ago. Wasn't as creepy as the book was.

I am a BIG Stephen King fan...if we don't own the movie, we have the book or both LOL I don't think I saw this movie as a kid but more as a teenager. I am not fond of clowns at all, never have been really. I love this movie though and we have it on a double VHS (though want to update to DVD) and watch it freqently. The effects are awesome. And as for favorite...oh my....I love all Stephen King movies...can't stop at just one LOL

I don't like reading stephen kings books because I find them very boring but I do like all the movies. I can't remember which one was IT but it is a 1,000 page book. For horror or suspense, sci fi style I like dean kountz

I watched the first half of the movie (with the kids fighting It) when I was a kid and it scared me so bad that I couldn't sleep most of the night. I finally watched the second half (with the adults) when I was much older and it was okay, but not as good as the kids one. As an adult I really do enjoy both the book and the movie even though the movie is still really creepy at times. It's definitely one of my favourite books by Stephen King.

I love to watch Steven King movies. I cant watch them alone. I love his bookIs more. They are so much scarier. I use to work in a hospital for the mental disabled. It was on the third shift and everyone was asleep. I started reading one of his books and I got so spooked. I started hearing noises that was not there. I was even scared to walk down the halls alone. That was the last time I ever read one of his books again.

clowns, even ones that are meant to be nice, are very sinister. having said that, I find it very hard to be scared of "Frankie" hehe.

It has to be my all-time fav of Stephen King's stories. His detailing is unmatched. I have read the book also. It was good, but a hard read for me. Again the detailing in print form is a little harder to grasp. Being a big Tim Curry fan, It was also a must for me
