Do you prefer to prevent uncertainties by meeting them halfway or hedge against

risks by going for insurance? Some people prefer to face uncertainties rather than preventing them or getting indemnified against losses. Today a simple incident caused me some worry. My neighbor was building a new house. The compound wall separating his and our house was theirs. He demolished the wall with a view to rebuild it along with the house. He demolished the compound walls also on the other three sides of his house. The semi-finished structure is remaining in the open unguarded. This morning a stray dog entered from their side and took away one of my footwear lying on the portico. The dog was apparently very hungry and apparently it wanted to dine on the leather. When I saw only one piece of my footware which is unusable, I blamed myself for not foreseeing the incident and keeping the footwear inside the home. Then, it struck to me that the dog might not have munched the whole piece and left it somewhere on the streets. I launched a search and finally found the missing piece 300 yards away from my home in the street. The dog did not apparently relish the taste of my sweat-soaked upper of the footwear and left it on the road. I use a very obsolete design not sold in local shops. Hence I get it particularly custom made for me by a cobbler. The cobblers making obsolete designs are also rare and I was thinking of wearing rubber sandals. Fortunately, the Dog (God in reverse!) saved me from the botheration. The purpose of telling this story is preventing eventualities and eliminating risk of loss is also a botheration. Then what is better?
