Thoughts on God

I've considered myself an agnostic for a while now, but I'm questioning if that's what I really am. The reason I'm questioning this is because I have fears pertaining to if there is a God. Lately I've been thinking what if there is a God, and I've said I don't believe in him or her? Does that mean I won't go to heaven? If there is a God, and I've done something that would be considered a sin but I've made up for it, will it still count against me? Do questions like these make me a believer, and agnostic or atheist. I'm looking for opinions from all different types of people.

Yes this type of questions make you believer If you were an atheist or agnostic then you would never ask yourself such questions. Do you know whether there's such a thing called heaven or hell? It's all created by ourselves, so that we have fear from doing dirty deeds. God is something which is created in ourselves so that we can back ourselves at hard times. There's no god, we have a god in ourselves. If any time we lose faith , we depend on God who's no one but our own self.

I have wrestled with this as well, although not in the same way. If there was any time I felt fear of a god it was very short-lived and long enough ago for me not to remember it. Based on your short description, it sounds like you are what I would call a broad or agnostic theist. For an agnostic atheist like myself, the existence of a god is acknowledged as a possibility, but not enough of a chance for me to worry about it. Even if I did, how would I know I'm worshiping the right flavor of god, gods, goddesses, etc? Based on your comments I think you do believe in god, but you are agnostic in the sense that you require more evidence and knowledge in order to really buy into all of it. You acknowledge that there may or may not be a god. Personally, I believe any action or emotion born out of a sense of fear has great potential to do you and the people around you harm. At the very least, there is a good possibility that you won't realize some great potentials in your life because fear of something like this is holding you back from enjoying your life by living it well and for the right reasons. You may want to check out an article I wrote demystifying atheism versus agnosticism from my point of view. In the Holy Bible, there is one true God and the Holy Bible is His Word. God introduced Himself to the whole world through the king of Egypt, the Pharaoh. He chose the Israelites to be His people and to the Israelites, God gave His commandments and from the Israelites, we learn so many things and from the Israelites came the One whom God said that He shall send and that is His only begotten Son, the Lord Jesus Christ who is the Savior of the world as the world or people are all sinners in front of God and they fall short of the glory of God which means that the people are not worthy to be with God. And so the people need someone to cleanse them from their sins and that could be done only by the Lord Jesus Christ. If we like to be with God, we should obey the doctrines or teachings in the Holy Bible. If we don't like to be with God, then do whatever we like that is we would be following ourselves and not following God. It's up to us to choose - follow ourselves or follow God.

whacks, what say you regarding some of your god's conflicting morality? For instance what about Deurotomy 13:6-10 NRSV? When the Bible commands Christians to break commandments and sin against non-believers: http://www.helium.com/tm/215138 Do you believe that morality does not exist without your god's supposed absolute standard? And if that is so, why do you suppose Christians defy the commandments on a regular basis in the name of their religion? I admire your faith, it is very clear that the Christian powers that be have succeeded in one of their main goals for the faith: control. dravenwriter, i dont see any wrong with Deuteronomy 13-6-10, Monica is a person at lost and without faith. wheareas Whacks is discussing the new tesstament. While Deuteronomy 13-6-10 tells about convincing someone within to leave that faith, which is to me is correct during that time but not of this time, for the New testament have teaches us more on loving one another. It is only an opinion

Our God is a loving God, a forgiving God, she is calling everyone to believe, He is bvery stubborn too, if you makes mistakes He forgives you, If you don't love Him, He still loves you. Think about it!

Any being with compassion that truly considers the human experience would do so with patience and understanding. If any God exists that requires a rigid belief system, such as a specific religions interpretation of them, then they have condemned most of humanity without just cause. Human experience cannot gaurantee a specific understanding of any Deity within a lifetime, Just look at human history around the globe. The only recurring thing I have noticed is spirituality and sacredness in varied forms but even then only for some people. If sacredness is fairly undefined then would a Deity be concerned that you believed in them or not specificly? A deity that is fair must be involved in the preconditions of our existance if they have an expectation regarding our choices, And we arn't born into any religion, worshiping any God. A spiritual life seems to be more for our own benefit than divine judgement.

I think you are an agnostic theist, capable or even willing to believe but needing something more tangible to help make your final decision. Unfortunately there is nothing tangible to support either theory, so the only thing to do is reasearch both sides and see which side of the bed is more comfortable for you.
