Can anybody remember the old tv series "Nearest and Dearest" that was on the early 70s? For years my dad kept saying silly things like "I must get a little hand put on this watch." I only recently saw what he was talking about. It stared Hylda Baker and Jimmy Jewel as Eli and Nellie Pledge a long lost brother and sister reunited when thier father died and leaves them a pickle factory. Joe Gladwin who was later known as wally from last of summer wine works in the factory. Its really funny and was followed up by the series "Not on Your Nellie"

Hi there Ross.
No I never got to watch them lol but then again I was to young to bother with the TV then I was to busy working lol.
When I was nursing I certainly did not feel like the TV and I just used to rad my Book. I still prefer reading now to TV lol.

Hi Ross, no I don't actually remember this and I think you are too young LOL! I do remember Bless This House with Syd James, Love Thy Neighbour, On The Buses, boy they sure don't make em like that any more. Oh and George and Mildred is my favourite. I used to have a crush on Paula Wilcox in Man About the House, she had lovely eyes!

Hi Ross yes actually I can remember the series "Nearest and Dearest" sometimes they even repeat it I have seen lately on our abc television channel. I have not heard of "Not on your Nellie", but "Nearest and Dearest" was very funny we do watch a quite a lot of these kind of shows on abc here in Australia.

Nellie was quite a rare series it used to be repeated on UK cable channel Granada Plus a few years back in the wee small hours of the morning. Its the same kind of thing only its in a pub
