Many people like cooking alone. They want to be the ruler in their kitchen and dont tolerate anybody else when they are there for cooking business. I am one such person! Also, there are people who want somebody to be there to help them with cooking. Which category do you fall in?

I don´t like help in the kitchen. I am a bit of a perfectionist and I have very specific ways that I like to do things. So it bugs me if someone is, say, cutting the carrots the wrong way. Sounds silly, but that´s me!

no, it's not silly. sometimes i tell my wife to chop something without being specific, then i look over and think to myself "dammit". but she's learning.

I like cooking on my own sometimes as I find when there are to many people trying to help me in the kitchen.. That sometimes to much is going on & then I end up with a dish that is ruined or below my expectations. Everyone else will like the dish, but I will be unable to eat dinner afterwards because in my mind the dish could have turned out better. There are times I just find that I want to be the only one cooking because I don't want anything to distract me from preparing a good dinner. I've had this happen to me before when I make supper and something pulls me away from making it. The next thing I knew it dinner was ruined or at least one course was gone. It would really bother me and set me back when this would happen because there would not be a back up dish I could make to cover it. Sometimes I don't mind when someone is helping me cook in the kitchen. I know when my other half helps me cook dinner sometimes it helps me out as I don't feel like I am over-whelmed with having to prepare everything myself. Sometimes this helps to make dinner a completely enjoyable meal because both people are focused on their own dish. Afterwards you can taste the difference in the result, I know that I have. Both me and my other half did that tonight with the dinner we cooked and each component of it was equally good. I do like it when even though I might be cooking most or all of the meal, I can get some help doing other things like food preparation. If I'm in this type of mood I usually will ask my other half to do little tasks in the kitchen or bedroom while I cook. I'll ask him to dice up onions, make the bed in the bedroom or even just wash dishes while I go focus on the actual task at hand. I am glad that both of us tend to take a look at the meal we are preparing and then figure out who is handling what. Usually I will cook and ask him to help me out by doing non cooking activities. In conclusion.. For the most part I am a mix between the two. I will ask if I need a tip on how to cook something or I will ask someone to give me a hand in the kitchen. I will also try to research something if asking someone for advice or help doesn't give me a good enough answer. Usually if no other option is available you can find me trying to find the answer I need by consulting either a cookbook or some online website. I can usually find my answer there if nowhere else! . . Thanks for allowing me to share! xx

I prefer to cook the meals BUT I am not against anyone who would like to take over for a night or two. It is nice to get a break once in awhile. My hubby will cook sometimes and he is good at it. My son, who lives at home, is a chef and he cooks once in awhile for us too. Nice to have a fancy meal and not have to cook it. I also like a bit of help as far as getting the dishes out, setting the table and perhaps having someone do the dishes for me sometimes.

Don't even THINK of coming into the kitchen when I am cooking. As soon as you see that wooden spoon in my hand, scram, beat it, get lost! Hahahaha

I like cooking alone because it gives me control on how the food would look like or how its gonna taste like. plus you get the praise that you and only you made such a tasty dish! of course that goes the other way around if your cooking sucks hehe...

depends if the person has a clue as to what they are doing. you can always use a sous-chef in the kitchen. my wife comes in handy for being my sous chef. she's getting to be quite a good cook as well.

Stay out of the kitchen!!! Oh, that was just me yelling. If someone wants to cook than I let them and I stay out of the kitchen and respect their wishes. I expect no less when I am doing the cooking. You know the saying..."too many cooks spoil the stew." Well, believe it and make an awesome stew all by myself...
