I am going to be in the US this summer. When we still lived there and my kds were little we used to get photos taken of them at Sear's. This was quite a few years ago, though. Where do you recommend now and what does it cost? Are the photos worth it if it is 'inexpensive' or would it be better to pay a little more elsewhere?

I would avoid walmart, although inexpensive i found with pictures, you pay for what you get. I used sears myself. I like thier work, and their smallest package is $130.USD But you can pick and choose just what you want and not buy a package at all. So really its all up to you. I dont go anywhere else.

I myself have always used Walmart to have my son's pictures taken and they've always come out really well. Just because a place is inexpensive doesn't necessarily mean the quality won't be good. And the same thing goes for expensive places, just because they charge a lot doesn't mean the pictures will be any better.

I had wondered about them, because I remember seeing flyers the last time I was home and them being so cheap I could hardly believe it.

Do they have Mothercare in the US? I know they do portraits here in Ireland. Maybe you could try a smaller place that goes out in natural settings. We have done that when I was growing up, and I think they are much better then the sitting up ram rod straight with goofy backgrounds.

That is a brilliant idea but I imagine it would be expensive. Since I am an ok photographer myself, maybe I should go into that business!

I have always used Sears and I have always been happy with their portraits of my son. We have always used them and have been very happy with the results. I would go more professional maybe if I wanted a special family portrait but for the time being Sears has been great for us.
