Why does the Islam religion feel the need to convert people?

I don't know of any other religion that makes it a main agenda to convert everybody on the planet. It seems to be their main goal and they try to achieve it with all means they deem necessary. Shouldn't the main goal of a religion be to get closer to whatever god it is you pray too and to follow the path given by that religion to achieve this? Why aren't they happy with their corner of the world? Why do they have to try to push their religion on people that live on the other side of the globe and that have nothing to do with them whatsoever? I heard muslims talk about how the whole world will follow Islam soon, so my question is, what would make them think that? I'm a pagan and I could care less if the whole world would convert to paganism nor would I ever try to convert anybody. So can anybody answer these questions?

Hi! I'll probably get ripped for this, but doesn't it kind of remind you of Hitler and the Third Reich? Think about it: Hitler hated Jews/non aryans, Islam hates Jews/non muslims; Hitler was bent on world domination, Islam wants the entire world to be Islamic; Hitler used violence to achieve his goals, Islam has both committed and threatened violence against Jews/Israel/US/non muslims..... I just had to point out the similarities. Coincidence..... or not???

You're welcome! LOL After all, I didn't say they were equal, I just mentioned that they seem to be pretty darn similar! :-)

Actually clownfish, it's funny you should mention that. I just watched a show on the history channel the other day about the connection between saddams bath party and Hitler. Apparently the founders of that party did look to the nazis as a role model. I was kind of sidetracked watching it but from what I could gather Hitler seemed like a hero and role model to them and they based a lot of the things they were doing on the way he was doing things. So there is definetely a connection there.

Yes I wonder too.. I was told by a muslim friend years ago that if I didn't convert that I would go to burn in hell. Well...not according to my bible..lol I don't really think that their religion is all that swell from what I've read, heard and seen. I won't be converting anytime soon. I thin....clownfish...has some great points there.

No Islam does not say anything like 'convert or die' that has been poured into the minds of all the westerns and Americans, thanks to their media. Islam instead show what good is and what bad is and then leave it to us what path we want to choose. I have heard so much here on Mylot people claiming Islam puts only 2 choices, either convert or die but nobdy has ever been able to point one versefrom Quran that says something like that. Let me tell you what my Qura'n says (Quran Chapter 109,AlKafiroon) 1 Say : O ye that reject Faith! 2 I worship not that which ye worship, 3 Nor will ye worship that which I worship. 4 And I will not worship that which ye have been wont to worship, 5 Nor will ye worship that which I worship. 6 To you be your Way, and to me mine.

Islam and all religions that make a concerted effort to convert people do so for the same reasons. Money and power. The more members, the bigger the collection. It does not matter what religion it is. Of course, very few, if any religions will admit to this, but there is an old saying which applies. If you want to know what's going on and why, "Follow the money!".

What planet do you live on? I have Mormons and Jehovahs Witnesses ringing my doorbell every other month, asking me if I've dound God and trying to sell me 'Watchtower'. Never have I been doorstepped by an Islamic person trying to peddle their religion. Why is South America, Roman Catholic? It is Christianity which has conversion as it's main objective, not Hindis, Sikhs, Muslims or any other faith.

If tou were to look under yje religious postings, you'll find more Christian based, bible quoting, than Qu'ran discussions! So, as in real life, myLot reflects my comments, too.

indeed, that's the islamic agenda -- converting the world into "dar al islam" so that there would be no need to divide it and call the other half, "dar al harb". the qur'an made it a sacred duty for them... ..."Make war on them until idolatry shall cease and Allah's religion shall reign supreme." -- Qur'an, surah 8:39 ..."Fight against such of those...who...do not embrace the true Faith, until they pay the tribute out of hand and are utterly subdued." -- Qur'an, surah 9:29 ..take note of the means by which they would convert the world into islam... conversion would mean subjugation. very islamic, don't you think? so would it come as a surprise if muslims around the world clamor for the establishment of shari'ah as the universal law and envision a white house with an islamic banner "Allahu Akbar!" on top?

Probably it is a mandatory thing to do, like some christians that believe they have the divine obrigation to spread the gospel. And you know the problem with those all powerful deities, they just need ordinary man to spread the gospel, they can't do it by themselves.

its again very senisitive issue.actually its right till we dont force the people to change their religion may it be menatlly or physically . because everone has the freedom to live their own way........we should not impose things.........may it be religion or othere thing..........but we shoud try to populate our culture without imposing......we are the pagan and i cloud care and concern less if the whole wolrd coulkd convert to paganism nor would i ever try to convert anybody.

I think the goal of any religion should be your own spiritual fulfillment, and a close relationship with your God or Gods. So I'm with you on that part. However, I'm not sure I agree that Islam is the only religion that makes it a main agenda to convert everybody on the planet. I've heard many Christians express this goal as well. I'm pagan too, and like you, I don't feel the need to ever convert anyone. However, some religions believe that it is part of their duty to convert, because their holy books say so. In order to not act on that command, they would have to in some way refute that it was truly the expectation of their God. I do know some Muslims who try to teach people about their religion in positive ways, and in fact I'm pretty good friends with one. He knows I'm never going to convert, and deals with that fact. It's really the radicals in any religion that get the most press, unfortunately.

I agree that the radicals get the most press. But I also se it on here though. I yet have to see a thread or post where chrsitians claim that everybody on this planet is going to be a christian and seem to make it a goal to make sure it will be so. I also have a couple of muslim friends, women I might add since I can't seem to warm up to the muslim men, and they don't try to convert me either. But I have been told numerous time that I will burn in hell, and worse things I rather not repeat here, if I don't convert.

What does organizations, NGO's and Journalist do? They create awareness. Islam did the same like these entities or any other religion. They never used any misuse of power or violence to convert people. They created awareness, if people want to convert or follow good, if they don't no harm let them continue it their way. At that time and even now, it is okay if you are not a Muslim for Muslim. Most wars have been initiated by other people and Muslims battled then because they had to defend themselves, completely logical. You follow your religion, let us follow ours peacefully.

My friend both Muslims and Christians tryto convert as many non muslims and christians into their fold, but Christians atleast do some good like opening some good english school, or old age houses and generlly have the christian love so they are supported. But Muslims are something different, basically even during the olden days when they had a war with Hindu Kings, they first killed the entire males of the Hindu family later on they were cut into pieces and made as Biriyani and these were feed to their wives, sisters and daughters etc. finally they were butally raped and their offsprings of these women were brought in a Islamic way, this is how these muslims convert any non muslims, so u just cannot change their lousy and barbaric culture in which they grew.

If someone think that what he believed is true, Its natural if he want the others follow him. Maybe Muslims do too. But, as far as I knew, Islam never teach us make the other becoming Muslim. Islam just teach us to tell the truth, and there're no reason to force the other.
