Surprise on us

So my hubby and I got up this morning and went shopping, picked up my MIL 50th birthday present and had lunch waiting for my FIL to call and say the coast was clear to go to their house and start setting up for my MIL suprise 50th birthday party. I have to admit I was pretty hungover and didn't even want to take a shower, but I got myself motivated thinking of all the things she does for us and what a sweet gesture this surprise party was gonna be for her. Even with our differences she deserves it. My FIL called while we were in the store waiting for the engraving on her gift to be finished, which took forever. We got to the in laws house later than planned and came around the corner and there's cars lined up everywhere. I start b**ching at my hubby about procrastinating on her gift, all these people are there already and his dad was counting on us to help, blah blah blah. So we park and walk into the house and the first thing I see is this beautiful arch with lights and flowers and thought how sweet of my FIL to do this for my MIL. We get past the entryway and there's the whole family and friends yelling "Happy Anniversary!" They were having a surprise party for us since we eloped and never had a reception! I thought I was gonna pass out. My MIL totally skipped celebrating her 50th birthday to throw us a party complete with a gorgeous cake and the whole 9! The disappointing part, which my mom told me later, is that the whole side of my family was invited too and only her and my dad came. Which kinda chapped my hiney because I have gone to my cousins kids graduation, etc..and even my sister didn't bother, even though I put my whole life on hold for her wedding last July. But I'm not gonna dwell on it because it was the best surprise I ever had. I guess now I should apologize to my hubby for yelling at him! LOL
