Hello, guys, I've been wondering these past few days on how I can reduce the size of the photo without cutting it. Example, a photo with 1.5MB in jpeg, reduced to 200kb in jpeg. Is that possible? I have to reduce the photo because I am going to download it and the download site has a limit to less than 1MB per photo. How can I do that? Your suggestions are greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

it is posible but only upto certain extent, you can open your photo with photoshop, first you can change the resolution of you picture and lower it like from 1280x1024 to 1024x768. second you can also try so save the image and then specify to lower the quality of the image. if you like just message me and ill do it for you

Well, JPEG is already a compressed format, so its size cannot be reduced anymore. BUT if you change the quality of the JPEG, its size will be smaller. I use Photoshop. If you have it, open up your JPEG image and choose Save As.. On the format, choose JPEG. Then you will be on a window asking you for the quality you want to save it to. The higher the quality, the bigger the filesize. Experiment with it and save it. (I recommend a quaity setting of 6-8 for photos). Hope that helps! =)

Also, in that way, the dimensions of the photo won't be affected at all. You will still maintain the original dimensions, but smaller filesize. =)

The only option is to either reduce the overall dimensions of the image or reduce the resolution, either of which can easily be done with any image editing utility. If you maintain both the size and resolution then it will maintain the size in Kb. You could try uploading a compressed file as well, and provide a link to download the compressed image in either zip or rar format.

Just use photoshop and use the option "save for web." It will reduce the file size of the image. It also has options to further reduce the file size.

If quality is not much of a concern, open the file in paint and simply saving it in the same type, .jpeg is the best solution for you. Paint decreases the file size of an image saved in jpeg. If quality is much of a concern however, you might need to reduce the size using professional editing sw as photoshop, so that you can adjust the quality giving referrence to color, sharpness and other quality related measures.

you can also go to paint, and change it to jpeg again and it will reduce the quality, but be much smaller. or you can also save it as a gif in paint, and that will compress it even more.
