With all the Baby Boomers (peopel born in 1946-64) getting ready to retire do you think there will be more jobs for young peopel or do you think Technology will fill the gaps?
How do you think this will effect econmies of the world?
Will realiestate becoem cheaper casue more peopel will be dieing and selling the home?
Will countires that experience a high rates of retirement be forced to bring in fogien workers?

That is assuming that they will retire and stay out of the work force. I know many senior citizens over the retirment age who continue to work. If they do retire and stay out of the work force then yes it will open up a lot of jobs for the next generations. I don't think technology will replace them all or fil in the gaps. Just not possible yet although it might make it so they don't have to hire as many but even that I don't see. I live in an area with a lot of senior citizens, property around here as been rising steadily for years. The house we have now to buy would cost three times as much so I doubt it will cause prices to go down.

That is true, how many will keeep working past 65?
A sad fact is that when the baby boomers start to pass away there will be more houses in places than people. The generation behind then is much smaller and the one behind them is a little bigger.

I think there will be way more jobs for young people. In Canada (I see you live here too) we're already feeling the pinch for workers. I live in Manitoba and my husband is an employer and he's already had 3 people quit in the last month. there is lots of turnover because there are lots of jobs. Technology will help but you need to hire people who understand the technology. I have no idea how the baby boomers dying off will affect real estate. Interesting question though. i'll have to think of it and get back to you.

Well, I am a baby boomer, just about in the middle, 1955 and I will not be retiring for a long time to come I'm sure. I also don't own a home at this time so that won't effect anyone (although I am in the process of attempting to purchase a home). I really don't think the baby boomers retiring will have a huge effect because of the fact that although there will be more homes for sale there are also more people looking for homes and the cost of everything has risen so much that no matter how many boomer homes that go up for sale they will still draw a good price. As for jobs - technology is replacing people every day and there are millions of people looking for jobs so that should help.

With baby boomers making up a large part of the population some places may experience this others may not. Technology can only replace so many jobs adn some thitngs just have to be done by a person. With the gereantions behind the boomers tending to have children later or not at all and things liek that may make a difference . I hope houses stay worth soemthing.
