It Oughta' Be Against the Law!

Among the many things that should be against the law but aren't is the Congressional practice of attaching weak and unpopular legislation to legislation that is almost sure to pass. It happened with the Port-Security Bill, the "Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act" was attached to it; and its happening again (as you'll read in this weekend's papers) with the Iraq War Funding Bill, BILLIONS of dollars are being attached to it, some of it worthwhile and much of it pure "pork." Regardless of how you or I feel about the Iraq war or Internet gambling or even port security, isn't it obvious that this practice is as close as you can come to committing fraud without crossing the line?
