How do you name your Dog?

like when you what to name your child,you may have to consult with a few people,but how do you come about the name for your Dog?

Not that I have a dog, but if I did, I would most likely name it after somebody I admire. If it came with a name though, I would keep that name.
I should name my first dog "Gretzky"
