A Walk to Remember: Did Jamie live or die?

Ok, so I stumbled upon A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks the other day & couldn't resist rereading it.... so here's my question...for you, did Jamie (the girl in the story) live or die?
Because in the last part of the novel, Langdon's character mentioned that he now believed in miracles...& personally I'd like to think that Jamie lived (the optimist in me, I guess) hehe I did even get into a discussion about this before with a friend, who said that Jamie died but I'd like to think otherwise...we even went as far as to visiting the site & Nicholas Sparks mentioned that he intentionally ended the novel that way--being that it's up to the reader to conclude...
How about you? Did you think Jamie lived or died? Thanks for your insights! =)

To be honest, I forget how they ended the novel but with the movie they made it pretty clear that Jamie had passed on. At the end of the movie it shows Landon looking off into the sky and his voice narrating, he specifically said something along the lines of "I lost Jamie that summer...". I thought this was such a beautiful story and Jamie really brought out the best part of Landon, he even got into medical school because Jamie helped him to believe in himself..

For me, I interpret the ending of the book as the "you decide for yourself type" I dunno if others would agree though ;) & that's the other difference between the book & movie coz in the book it didn't say there that he went on to study medicine but yup, do have to agree with you that putting that in the movie added another miracle to that story...have a nice day! =)
