Writings and Drawing on the Wall

Many may seem to think that I can't control my children because I allow them to write on our walls...as in anywhere on our wall. I am one of those parents who really thinks that it's more possitive to grant children as much freedom of movement and let them do things that they want to do that are creative and is an expression of themselves. I allowed my eldest daughter to start writing on the walls when she was still 2 years old but as she grows older I also started to teach her to clean it up and let her understand that I just allowed her to write at such age because it would be more difficult for her to write things looking down. Children have more hand to eye coordination when they write things in front of them that's why they prefer to write on the walls. Now that she is already 5 years old, she no longer writes on the walls because she understands already that walls is not a place for writing. She's also tolerant of her younger sister who is now 2 years old and is now the one writing things on the wall that she even helps me clean the walls. Like other things, teaching children is a process and one cannot just teach them there and then that they should not write on the wall. I think it would more stifling for them.

I think you are a good mother thinking of your children like this. I have never let my children write on the walls because I don't have much money so I can't afford to keep cleaning them all the time.

Thank you for thinking so my friend. I don't also clean that often the walls because it would just get writings again. I clean them at least once a month or even longer. LOL...but they are usually the walls in our bedroom where nobody but me gets to see.
