I started work at about 10:00 am on 12-03-2007 and now it is already 01:10 on 13-03-2007 and I just finished my work, supposed to be, for the day. So, that means I have worked for about 14 hours and now my head is spinning and my butt hurts from sitting too long. Actually I was doing the QA for a new program that was just being developed for a client. How long can you stand working in a day? It would be interesting to see how much others spend their time at work.

well,I'm still an engineering student but I find this discussion interesting, i like to work 6-8 hours a day not more than that. I cannot take more work at a time, but yes, if they offer me breaks at regular intervals of time I shall work for some more time. :)

Well, 6 to 8 hours a day is quite a normal working hours but to do that on top of your schooling time could be a challenge. I am sure that you put more priority to your studies than work. I hope. Thanks for the comment!

I use to have three jobs and I literally only slept about 4 hours at a time about every other night at the most and then I had to play catch up on my one and only day off. Then I got really sick and now I have to get lots of sleep. I've slowed down some... at least now I only work two businesses and they are my own out of my home and I can rest when I need to. However I am still a work aholic. At least I am no longer doing the hard labor jobs. It's mostly talking, paperwork, typing and sewing away for me.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I do know that working for long hours does affect your health but sometimes it is just unavoidable. I am glad that you do not have to work as hard as before.

The longest I think I have ever worked is a 16-hour shift. I am working through one right now. It helps that in the off hours, the call volumes are not to bad. Plus the overtime really helps!

It is not bad if you are compensated accordingly for the sacrifices that you have to make.

I once spent 16 hours on the job as a corrections officer. Then I had a 20 minute drive home on backwoods winding roads. I dozed off and woke just as I was hitting the edge of the shoulder of the road several times. Scary. Plus, my job entailed climbing stairs in three rooms to do cell checks every thirty minutes. My usual shifts were twelve hours. My muscles were aching! And it looked as if I were driving drunk at 10 am!!

I know the dozing off while driving part. I did that a couple of times but thank God, I did not get into any major troubles. It must have been scary to do your work especially at night. I can't imagine. Thanks for your comment.

Occasionally I do have the experience like you to work for more than 15 hours for one aim only that is to finish the task. But ususlly I don't work more than 7 hours per day. I've to keep muself lively so that I can carry on my work tomorrow. Hoping that you are not working ofently for so long a time coz this will bring harm to your health. Take a rest if you are too tired. Take care!
