Okay so my husband has a thing about not being able to "pass up a good deal"..... my cousin, and a great freind of my husbands, had a Ford Ranger, very nice, black with a 8 inch lift, chrome rollbars. A nice looking truck, great shape, well he was wanting to sell it pay off his Raptor. So he asked my husband (who already has 2 rangers, a bronco, mustang, and then my chevy truck)We didn't need a nother rig, but for $5,000 he couldn't pass it up...Well I wasn't happy, and told him SOMETHING had to go, he doesn't need 3 Ranger trucks. He ignored me at first, and started looking for new tires, since the Swampers on it, were too loud. Well our friend asked what he going to do with the tires that were on it. My husband said "I'm pricing, and haven't decided what I'm going to do yet. But IF I get new ones, you can have them back if you want." our friend said he didn't have anything to put them on, but he could always sell them. Well a week goes by, the newness wears off, and he starts to realize, that I was actually right, and he did not 3 trucks, And once figuring which was more practical, it turns out that the one he just got, had to go. So while talking to his brother on the phone he happened to mention that he was thinking of selling the black ranger. His brother came down that night with cash in hand and bought it. O.K. here's where the, you know what hit the fan, Our friend was outraged that we sold it. As soon as he got over that he found out that my brother-in-law had changed the tires, and sold them to someone else for $250...So our friend called here in up roar. My husband went over there last night with $250 and said if your worried about the money then here, but if you remember correctly the tires weren't part of the deal in me buying the truck, It was a deal between you and me. and once I sold the truck it was void, but if this money is worth more than our friendship, then take it. He took the money..my husband is upset.

It feels so bad. I understand what your husband is going through. Even I have learnt it the hard way. And that is the reason why I try to bring money in friendship. I try not to take any money from any of my friends, although I tend to help them out, when they need. But, it is not that all are like that, but better not to risk both money and friendship.
