Is This Ethical?

We had a stand up in the store that I work in to donate quarters to Leukemia patients. That fund has finally accumulated $22. Instead of mailing it in, he asked it I would rather take the money and put it toward the MS Walk that I'm doing next month. Would you take the Leukemia money and use it toward the MS Walk? Do you think that it is wrong and that the money should be given to whichever charity the donor thought it was going to? Or do you even think that people noticed which charity it was going to when they donated and it could be used for the MS Walk instead and still be okay?

They are both imporant causes but if the money is raised for Leukemia patients then it should go for them. Thats just plain wrong to raise money for one thing and use it for another. Have you told youe boss how you feel about this? I would.

I have to agree with the other comments. it was raised for one thing and thats where the money should go. I think you will be able to make up that $22 else where. Its bad karma.

The majority of people won't have noticed which charity the money was for but some people will have specifically wanted to give to a leukenia charity. It would not be ethical to give the money to another charity.

I think you should kindly tell your boss to give it to the charity that loaned you guys the stand. Let him know you appreciate the offer but must decline.

I think that the money should go to the orignal charity it was ment for. I know I always pay attention to what cause I am donating to. I am glad that you told your boss to send it in. Good Luck with the MS Walk, it is a really great thing you are doing for your charity.
