Why is it that when we dream so many people have a dream of themself flying? Some people fly high in the sky and some fly very low right above the ground. Does anyone know what these dreams mean?

I used to have these dreams so often...and in them I would try to be going higher and higher...this action would be more like what you would use underwater to swim from the bottom of the ocean floor to the water surface. I agree with most of the others on the dream interpretation - I do think it's got to do with wanting to be released from a situation or wanting more "freedom" from a situation.

Hi urbangirl, I have them often and really don't like this dream. I always feel I am going to crash and fall flat on my face. Thanks.

Oh, really? I feel really good in the dream whenever I'm flying. I kind of just stay up in the air and never seem to land.

Ahhhh you see, there must be amateur and professional fliers. Guess I am an amateur. LOL Every time I'm in this dream I am only about 10 feet off the ground, flying right over peoples heads and just before I crash land I wake up. Very interesting how people don't even fly the same in a dream. Maybe it's because we all have different issues we try to deal with in our real lives. Hmmmmmmm.

Wow! I never dream of flying. My dreams usually consist of me walking or being in water. Flying, in a sense, is being free. Not an expert on dreams so can't tell ya anything else. Sorry.

Really, you dream about water, don't know what that means. I hear so many people dream about flying, I even dream of it. Guess a lot of us are looking to be set free. LOL

flying is a need for freedom, to be released from a situation or a to become a less controlled person. There are lots of us who seek to have a more carefree life.

The need for freedom. I often wondered what it meant, makes a lot of sense. Thanks winterose.

Flying is way of escaping one's problems. It is a way of freeing one's self from the walls of reality.

I have a book here on dreams as I am very interested in what they mean.....it tells me in here that if you dream of flying,or falling and you aren't afraid means you are going through a hard time----but you will do well in the end.If you are afraid,it means you feel out of control about something in your life.Hope this helps

my aunt once said that when you dream about flying it means you are in top of things. you are in control of dreams that matters to you or maybe gained a new perspective on things. you maybe strong willed and feel like no one can defeat you. so fly high... wink wink

I don't know what the dream of flying means. YOu are correct that many people have that dream. Let me tell you, if I dreamed I was flying, you would need several people to hold me down and several more to clean and change the bed linens because I would be freaking out and soiling myself!!! (That is if one's fears/phobias transfer to their dreams!) Maybe that is why I have never had a dream that I was flying?!

We'd have to change the bed linens, oh so in other words you'd be a dirty flier? hahaha Seems like what we should be doing is looking out for the people your flying over. In your dream - One lady say to the other, did you feel that, is it raining? The other lady looks up and says no, it's not rainimg, that was just nurse pee. LOLOLOLOL

I don't know how to interpret dreams. But my Grandma has a story to tell about every single dream. She gives me explanations on each of my dreams. It is weird but it is fun to listen to all that. In my opinion, dreams are the result of the unprocessed and left over thoughts in our mind.
