A cousin of mine who is an infant has been suspected of Meningitis. Can anyone tell me what is the best treatment. Right now he is hospitalised, but with no recovery, and is still the same. Is it fatal.

well i'll go backwards here. it can be fatal. it depends what kind of menangitis he has. there are a few kinds. i beleive only one is serious enough to be fatal, the others could either paralize a part of him, cause deafness, or partial hearing loss. when i had menangitis, the only form of treatment i beleive they gave me was a heavy dose of medication every day, entered into my bloodstream by a large needle that they put into my spine. greatest of luck to your cousin, praying for him. doctors are good these days, chances of fatality are more slim than ever.

Thanks for your comment. I think what my cousin got was that had no cure. He lasted only three days, after he was detected with the desease. Think it happened for the best. Even if he has survived, he would suffer for his entire life with some diffect.

ozkid92, what kind of meningitis did you have? Is it the one that seems to be prevalent among young college students? I saw a news report recently, it's quite scary how high the mortality rate is if treatment is not sought immediately, and yet diagnosis is tricky. There ought to be an easy way to diagnose this quickly to save lives...and certainly something has to be done about the way it spreads so quickly and easily.
