How do you avoid wearing glasses? Should you stay away from the television and computer all together? Do you think that drastic measures are required? Or does taking breaks and resting your precious eyes do the trick to/for you? For all those people who wear glasses out there; a) what is it like? and b) what are some of the dissadvantages of wearing glasses? All comments appreciated.

To avoid wearing glasses, take care of your eyes. Easier said than done :P I wear glasses out of no choice. The eye specialist recommends that I need glasses, dark glasses some more. The opticians are defintely more than happy to serve me. Frightened of being blind if I ignore their advise, I put on glasses. However, I do not wear glasses when I am at home. I faithfully put on my glasses when I am outdoors. I looked at green grasses in the morning. I washed my eyes with dew. All went well. I decide to go for jogs without glasses. Now I am short-sighted probably from spending too long hours at the computer, not TV. LOL.

Eat foods that are good for the eyes, dont strain your eyes too much on TV, computers and the like. Rest your eyes when ever posible.

To avoid having poor eyesight one mustn't watch the tv so near and read books in the dark..Wearing glasses for me is a hassle sometimes it falls off when you lean forward or when you fall asleep with them on and they break and you have to buy another one. I decided to wear contacts though it is much more convenient and hassle free.

I have had my perfect vision for the longest time. And I ahve been proud of it, until, I started long hours at the computer, as a kid I never stayed too close when watching television, I don't read books against the light. But the time came and computers was my bestfriend and I was in front of it almost more than half the time I am awake. Icluding at work, that's 8 hours plus if I still go online when I get home. So just last yr I got my eye checked and to my disappointment, my perect 20-20 vision is now.. 25-25.. astigmatism, it is not so worse actually and can still be corrected, but the thing is I always forget to wear my corrective lenses, because I am no used to having glasses. It gets really distracting at times, and I feel ticklish when I wear it for quite a long time, haha... it also is uncomfortable especially when you are not used to having to wear one ever.

I have worn glasses for a very long time and actually would feel naked without them. Some problems with vision could be created from computer or television use - but many people just have visual problems that require corrective lenses. Once you get used to wearing glasses, they become a natural part of who you are - just like wearing socks or a tee shirt.

It comes from a person who really don't eat vegetables. Pumpkins and other vegetables really makes our eyes healthy. Like what cow do . Monkey only eat banana, can you see them wearing eyeglasses? They even don't have preventive measures but they are healthy.

Some people can not avoid wearing glasses as they were born with not so perfect vision. Some people can not wear contacts either so they need glasses to see well. For those who do not wear glasses, it would be helpful to not look at the computer monitor too much or the tv screen too close. Your eyes always need a break no matter if you wear glasses or not. Many people seem to think that person who wears glasses is not attractive or is geeky looking. That is around here anyways and maybe not elsewhere.

I have worn glasses for so many years, at least 20 years. IAt very beginning, I felt very uncomfortbale. Gradually, i am used to wearing it. some times it is really very inconvenient wearing a pair of glasses. for example, I like swimming very much, but if I wear glasses, it is so annoying, there are waters on the lenses of the glasses.

Well, one thing is clear. I don't like wearing glasses! It's just so troublesome having to put them on every morning I wake up. This is because my eyes have very bad vision and you can say that I'm almost blind without my glasses. Yeah, I guess we should stay away from computers and the TV. My mom always blamed the TV for spoiling my eyesight. But, I still watch the TV almost everyday now. We do need to take a break when we are using the computer. It's not good to stare at the screen for too long. Say, after half an hour on the computer, just get up, walk about and do some stretches, and look at something green like the field. I heard green is good for the eyes. However, wearing glasses are quite a trend now. Those who don't need glasses even buy them and wear them to look sophisticated. Whereas me, who has to wear them all the time, wants to get rid of them. I wish I had normal vision. The disadvantages are you have to spend money to buy new glasses, in case the power of the eyes goes up. And wearing glasses is not suitable for sports. There's the chance of your glasses dropping and being stepped on. Well, that's my view of wearing glasses. Ah, I really want normal vision. Haha!

Let me tell you HOW I AVOID wearing my glasses : 1. I ask my cat to play with them so that I don't find them anymore. 2. I "accidently" leave them on the couch so that somebody sits on them. 3. I put them on a very high shelf ...and pretend I don't reach them. 4. If they are in front of me on the desk,i have to find them first, beacose "I don't see well". that's abot it..

Let me share with you some Eye Care Facts & Myths I came across the internet: 1. Using your eyes in dimlight does not damage them. For centuries, all nighttime reading and sewing was done by candlelight or with gas or kerosene lamps. However, good lighting does make reading easier and can prevent eye fatigue. 2. Working on computers or video display terminals will not harm your eyes. Often, when using a computer for long periods of time, just as when reading or doing other close work, you blink less often than normal. This reduced rate of blinking makes your eyes dry, which may lead to the feeling of eye strain or fatigue. Try to take regular breaks to look up or across the room. Looking at objects farther away often relieves the feeling of strain on your eyes. Keep the monitor between 18 to 24 inches from your face and at a slight downward angle. Also consider the use of artificial tears. If your vision blurs or your eyes tire easily, you should have your eyes examined by an opthalmologist. 3. Eyeglasses are devices used to sharpen your vision. Although correct eyeglasses or contacts help you to see clearly, wearing a pair with the wrong lenses, or not wearing glasses at all, will not physically damage your eyes. However, children younger than 8 years old who need eyeglasses should wear their own prescription to avoid the possibility of developing amblyopia or lazy eye. 4. Children can focus at close distance without eyestrain better than adults. They often develop the habit of holding reading materials close to their eyes or sitting right infront of the television. There is no evidence that this damages their eyes, and the habit usually diminishes as children grow older. Children with nearsightedness (myopia) sometimes sit close to the television in order to see the images more clearly. 5. Carrots are rich in Vitamin A, which is essential for sight, but many other foods also contain this vitamin. A well-balanced diet, with or without carrots, provides all the Vitamin A necessary for good vision.

If your glasses have a small number or you dont have glasses, then you can get rid of them by eating lots of carrots. In the early days of glasses, keeping distance from T.V., reading in enough light, keeping the book one feet away from eyes will help. What I'm doing to get rid of my glasses is Laser eye surgery which permanently removes glasses by an operation after you age 17. I hate glasses as far as likes and dislikes are concerned. They have many disadvantages and on with me is, I have an oily skin and the glasses keep sliding down my nose consequently. They also give me a studious, nerdy look. Advantage may be that some poeple might think you look sophisticated.

I've been wearing glasses for twenty-seven years and the disadvantage to them is to remember to take them off when going for a swim, which I forgot to do once and jumped in the pool with my glasses on. I guess I'm so used to mine that they don't bother me except for the fact that using a computer for 10 to 18 hours a day has caused my eyes to change and now I need new glasses and they aren't cheap. These cost $300 and that was 8 or 10 years ago. Now, I will need bifocals because I now can't read with my glasses on. However, I believe in the power of prayer and I'm believing for my eyes to be healed completely so I don't have to wear them at all! My sister had Lasik surgery a few years ago so now she doesn't have to wear glasses or contacts anymore, which I think is great. I'd rather God heal my eyes so I don't have to pay for surgery or trust my eyes to the hands of men and a laser. There's another reason I want God to heal my eyes, though. I have what is called a lazy eye that has gotten worse as I've gotten older and it's causing me a lot of problems because I really see mainly with my left eye and the right eye sees from a different perspective so sometimes I see two different views at one time which can be rather annoying when I'm trying to do something. Like I said, though, I know God can heal my eyes and that's what I'm expecting!

I used to have to wear glasses. My eye sight wasnt horrible but slightly off, no bottle cap glasses. However its no urban legend that caratine helps your eyes rebuild. I just started eating alot of carots and salads with alot of caraots in them. After about 2 1/2 months my glasses started to feel blury and i saw better without them but not perfect yet. I kept up tha carot regimen and now after alomost a year my vision is close to 20/20 Glasses are horrible for you, your eyes become dependant on them and slowly degrade, every year you will need to get higher and heighr grade glasses untill your wearing very thick bottle cap glasses, ewww. I think thin glasses in some cases can add to an intilectual image for some odd reason but i would pick not needing them than needing them anyday.
