Have you ever attended a military funeral?

Has anyone here been to a military funeral? How did it make you feel? Do you think they did a good job paying tribute to the person that died for our country? I went to one last summer when my friend and next door neighbor died in Iraq. This was the first time attending a military funeral and it was very hard on me. I could not stop crying. Me and my friends wife and her family rode in limos to the funeral. It was a really nice funeral that was held in a couple different places followed by a gun salute. They gave an American Flag and medals to his wife and much more. The military went all out for my friend who died. I sure do miss him and his wife misses him even more.

I haven't attended one personally... though I've seen some on TV. Do they count? :P My take is that they are more for show than anything...

You can absolutely have a different opinion than all of us. It is just that someone who may have lost a loved one in the military may not be too happy about the just for show statement. Thank you for your opinion. :-)

I am glad that you felt they did a good job with the ceremony and paying respect for your father. I bet he was a great man as well as a great soldier.
