I really like to cook my husband a steak here and there. Why is it I can never make a soft juicy tender steak??? I do usually use a marinade. What is the best cut of steak you can get for the cheapest price? Does anyone have any good steak recipes?

A nicely cooked steak is meant to take 10-15 minutes to cook. That's 10minutes for a rare steak, 12-13 minutes for medium to rare and 15 a well done steak. You can marinate them by leaving them soaking in soya sauce with a drop or two of worchester sauce and olive oil! Don't forget to cook them slowly or even better grill them! Pepper sauce is tasty too!! lol

you can't "make" a steak soft, juicy and tender. you have to buy the proper cut for the way you're going to prepare you meat. for example, if you buy a filet, cook it to medium rare, you will be able to cut it with a fork, as they say. if you buy a sirloin and cook it to well done, you will need a chainsaw to get through it. let me know what your cooking and i can help. p.s. marinating DOES NOT help to make a steak more tender. all it can do is add flavor. a good, cheap cut of meat that is great for a quick marinade is the skirt steak. it cooks quickly and is very, very flavorful.

I think I bought just a plain round steak.
