Well, I dropped off my baby (Ike) to be neautered this morning (I feel like a parent waiting to hear results from their childs surgery), anyways as I was walking in I got a new discussion idea for mylot..haha.
If the owner is not present and their dog bites/attacks one of the workers at the clinic, who is held responsible? Do you find that fair? Who do you think should be held responsible.

I would say the Vet is responsible. If you leave your pet, and you are not around, the pet becomes their responsibility.
Same deal if you leave your kid at the hospital. The hospital/doctor becomes responsible for the kid and whatever happens to him or whatever he does.
At least that's the way I see it :) How can you be blamed for something your dog does when you aren't there? Unless you have been training it to attack people, there's really nothing you can do.

i don't think anyone is held responsbile, because those workers are taking the risk to work there, so i am sure their employer gives them workmen's comp if such a thing would happen and if they volunteer there again, they are taking the risk. it is just like if you go parchuting and ur parachute does not open, who is at fault? you are because u decide to take that risk to jump out the plane.

if you signed something saying that you are responsible, then you are responsible. but if you didn't sign anything then the worker is probabl;y responsible. i am sure the clinics have some sort of insurancce for situations like that.

Owner is not responsible. First clinic has liability insurance, second they are train to know how to handle all dogs. Even when you are present next to your dog, clinic is responsible for all workers.

Did your dog bite one of the workers?I think the owner is responsible if the dog attacts someone. It is highly unlikely for a dog to attack, unless he/she has that type of personality...The owner,if they know that their dog could attack should make sure to tell the worKers of their dogs traits so that the workers can take percautions...Some dogs if they are aggressive needs to be musseled, and its the owners responsibility to make them understand what type of traits your dog has...Most dogs do not bite,I have only had one dog that would bite and that was a chow, they are aggressive and can be mean,i always warned the vet of his personality and he was musseled...I loved my Chow but as he got older he began to get mean and ended up biting my friends child.I took him to the vet,he told me if a dog bites he should not be around people..Anyway I ended up having to put my dog down.I really hated to do that but i just did not want a dog that would bite...Yes i know when I took my baby in I also felt like a mother waiting for my child...They are like our children, and we love them hee hee
