Should we try to blow up Apophis or deflect it?

Well, most of the scientists say we should try to alter it's course (deflect it) rather than blow it up. It is as big as a football stadium, so it would be hard to blow it up well enough that all the pieces would be small enough to burn up in the atmosphere without doing damage. If they only managed to split into 4 or 5 pieces, the destruction would be even more far-reaching thanif it stayed whole, because the pieces would make landfall as well as falling in the ocean, causing both tsunamis and throwing dirt and debris into the atmosphere (which could lead to a mini ice-age).

I agree with the above responder. Most scientists say that blowing it up will multiply the potential danger. The best way is to deflect it.
