I thought that it'd be fun to discuss some memories of our high school dance days, anything from the clothes worn, band played, dance moves busted, chaperones, crushes, shyness, anything! I'm only 21 so my highschool days weren't all that long ago. To be honest, all I really recall about them is people sneaking in alcohol and making out on the dance floor. Share your dance memories with us.

Jshean20, My memorie is a true love story. I went to one Prom. It was my now husbands senior year Prom. I was 14 and he was 17. I had a curfew of 11:30 PM. We were neighbors and then our basement caught fire and we moved, half way down the alley on the opposite side. I had a schoolgirl crush on him, he being the "older man". He would take me and my siblings skating, swimming, picnicing. We stayed for a week in his house while he and his family were on vacation. Back to the Prom.... Come to find out he liked me too. He asked me to go with him to his senior year Prom. This was a real special occasion for me. I had only been on 2 car dates, both with him before this. (He took me to see The Exorcist when it first was out.) My family could not afford to buy me a prom dress so his mom bought it for me for my birthday. It was dark blue and white at the top and solid dark blue at the bottom. It had an empire style waist and short sleeves. My mom fixed my hair with lots of ringlet curls and I hated it. I did not want to look cute, I wanted to look grown up. She could tell I was not happy so she let his mom redo my hair. She brushed it all out with a side part and my hair hung over one eye when I looked down. I loved it. It made me feel sophisticated and all grown up. I wore white chunky heeled sandals. He wore a powder blue tuxedo with a dark blue tie. He got me a corsage of yellow tea roses and babies breath. He gave me a gift that evening before we left of a gold necklace with a pearl centered in the middle of a gold bar. I was a princess in heaven. It was a triple date, we went with two other couples. I was the youngest in the group. The theme at the Prom was Follow the Yellow Brick Road. The floor had a yellow brick trail that led to the dance floor. We laughed and talked and told jokes and watched people dance. He did not want to dance but gave in and we had one slow dance together. They had a swing wrapped with flowers set up for photos and we had our photo taken with me sitting on the swing and him standing beside me with his hand over mine. We left the dance at 9:30 and went for a car ride. All of us. The guys stopped at a gas station to get drinks and one of the other girls moved the car to the other side of the building. It was funny watching the guys reactions and hunting for the car. We went for a ride into the country on what was then called "roller coaster hill". That was a lot of fun and one of the girls almost got sick. My date was the driver so I got to be in the front seat next to him. We then went to one of the other guys house and we all went in and they made some drinks and gave me 7 up. After about 30 min. he said it was time to take me home. Everyone was real nice about me being younger and all. He took me home and we were a little early so we sat in the car and talked until 5 min. till and then he kissed me goodnight at the door. My mom was up waiting and she had peppermint ice cream for me and we talked clear past midnight. He graduated high school soon after and went off to college that fall. My parents divorced and I moved. The happy romantic ending is not over there. 13 years later I moved back to this area and he was still single and had recently moved back also. We got back together and we got married on Dec. 9th, 1989. My prom date was my prince charming in a powder blue suit and is now my husband. I carried yellow tea roses at our wedding (and he wore a grey pinstripe suit, NO powder blue). But he was cute in his powder blue suit!

On my prom night, the limo showed up and we went to the eat dinner, well, when I was getting back in the limo to go to prom, I sat back on my dress and my little spaghetti strap broke. So we had to stop at a convenience store and get some safety pins and my date and I spent most of the night repinning my dress. That was horrible. But I am still with the guy I went to prom with and it has ben 6 years and we have 2 wonderful children, so It couldn't have been that bad/

*LOL*...well I only went to one high school dance. I thought technically I had a boyfriend, but boy was I crushed to find out he didn't think so! Then he wanted to be! Too little too late! anyway I went stag, and enjoyed myself! My best friends brother (eye candy) sufficed for me! I had fun. I did most of those things when my best friend was around, after freshmen year, she moved! So I didn't get wrapped up in school as much. NO prom or anything like that.
