I have a 3 year old. I still want to lose weight, but I don't want to leave a really big gap in age for my kids. Should I have another? What do you think? What have you done?

That is about the right gap in age between kids. Why wait till you lose the weight when you will just gain it back to have another? If you are ready for another child I say go ahead and do it now. Lose all the weight later.

I wouldn't decide based on my weight. If you plan to have another child, you probably should do it soon. By the time your baby is born, your 3 year old will be almost 4 and that is a pretty good age spread already. You can finish your family and then get serious about dieting.

I found it hard to lose weight after my first baby, and hadn't still lost it before the next one. However after the next baby I managed to get slimmer than I was before I got pregnant the first time. I think you should go for it, you have plenty of time to worry about the weight after.

Since you don't want a big age gap for your kids you should try and get pregnant now and lose the weight later. Though I personally don't think a big age gap really matters between siblings. My kids are 3 years apart. My husband wants one more and if I was to get pregnant right now, there would be a big age gap between my kids as they are already 9 and 6. My mom is the youngest of 6 kids. Her eldest sibling and my mom are 11 years apart. Though my mom is close to most of her siblings, I'd have to say she is closest to the eldest one.
