Does anyone thing that books we read as children are still relevant today?

I have noticed that a lot of childrens books have been rewritten to appeal to a more modern audience. Examples of these are Topsy and Tim books, Thomas the Tank Engine and Miffy. I love the originals of these books and have read them to my children instead of buying the modern versions.

I like the old fashioned versions aswell but we have to try to combine both as the language is changing constantly..even I can't keep up with some of the new phrases that are being constantly coined. I will need dictionary to translate english into english lol..sorry i had to come to mylot for a bit as there is nothing much i can do in a foreign country away frommy mum and if i keep thinking about it it will make me cry more..

I think that all books are still relevant today. If not for history, it certainly be for the values that it taught us. Children's books or stories never grow old. It's just the people who reads them that grows old and who may find them irrelevant but the new generation of children would certainly appreciate them and wouls still love them because it is still a story to enjoy for them.
