It was Fermi, Teller and them Einstein wrote the letter saying it was possible Oppenheimer was in charge of making them later They actually thought there was some chance the reaction would cause a cascade and burn up the Earth at the first test. AND THEY DID IT ANYWAY. Gotta watch the Scientists during war times I think.
