Ever since my daughter was born I've always wanted her to learn to play a sport. She is now two and it seems like she has endless energy, even though she spends a lot of time jumping and playing outdoors. My daughter is very mature for her age. She knows how to share and how to play fair. I wonder how soon I could enroll her to play any type of sports. If you have kids when did you enroll them? If you do not have kids... I still want to hear your thoughts. Thank you S. L.

I believe that you should encourage your child to do anything she wants, no matter what age. However, most recreation leagues don't have teams under four years of age. You will have to check with your city's parks and recs board for this information. I think that it is awesome she is already practicing good sportsmanship at such a young age. Continue to play with her and work with her and she will go far, I am sure. You can buy many types of sports equipment for children at a small age. I suggest a my first t-ball set. Fisher Price has a good line of grow with me toys that may also help her play at home until she is old enough. Let her pick the sport and make sure they know its fun and not work. many kids quit liking sports if they have to make their lives revolve around practicing. Let her try as many things as she wants, but teach her to stick with something, also. No doubt at two, she wants to do a little of everything. My son is nine, and he wants to so everything coming and going. Good Luck!

My son is the same way! Very active energetic and coordinated. We starte dpalying sports with him at the park when he was about 18 months old. He is now turning 3 and can play soccor and can hit a softball, throw and catch. We have to wait til he's 4 to sign him up for soccor and t-ball though, so we are putting him into swimming. You have to go into the pool with them but it is a great physical activity and I feel every child should learn how to swim. I think you playing with her and teaching her to play at home or at the park will be good and definatly give her an advantage when she is old enough to join a team.

there are different ages for every sport it seems. i now swimming start at 6 months and you go in the pool with them. dancing where my daughter goes starts at 3 years. gymnastics in my area start at age 1. my daughter just singed up for soccer and they have to be turning 4 this year to join. and baseball they have to be 4 to play. as for figure skating they have to be 3. and hockey, i have no clue cause i haven't looked into that one yet.
